Giant Bomb TV is an unofficial, open-source Android app for watching Giant Bomb videos. This policy explains what data the app handles and how it is used.
Data the app sends
The app communicates with the following services:
- Giant Bomb (giantbomb.com) - Your API key is sent with every request to authenticate you. The app also sends viewing progress, watchlist additions/removals, and search queries to Giant Bomb's public API. This data is handled by Giant Bomb under their own privacy policy.
- Twitch (gql.twitch.tv) - When you watch a live stream, the app requests stream playback data from Twitch's API. No account information is sent.
- GitHub (api.github.com) - In sideloaded builds with self-update enabled, the app checks for new releases on GitHub. No personal data is sent.
Data the app stores locally
- Your Giant Bomb API key (in app preferences on your device)
- Your preferred video quality setting
- Your favourite shows list
This data stays on your device and is not sent to any server other than Giant Bomb as described above.
Data the app does not collect
- No analytics or usage tracking
- No advertising identifiers
- No crash reporting
- No personal information beyond what you provide (your API key)
- No data is shared with third parties
Third-party services
The app uses Google Cast (Chromecast) to allow casting videos to compatible devices. When casting, Google's Cast SDK may communicate with Google services. See Google's privacy policy for details.
Children's privacy
This app is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
